CRANKY PRESSMAN GOODIES
Dumped in the Design and Resources pile on May 29, 2009.

I received my letterpress sample pack from Cranky Pressman today. Like most designers, I’m a huge letterpress fan (though maaaaybe not as much as my wife); there’s something about the classic and pure process that ignites imagination and connects you to hundreds of years of graphic tradition. Can’t wait for the next project we take to the [letter]presses.
Studio on Fire and Porridge Papers are other great resource for letterpress.

DOLLAR REDE$IGN PROJECT
Dumped in the Design pile on May 27, 2009.

Richard Smith over at The Daily Blend recently initiated a call for entries for the redesign of the U$D, stating,
It seems so obvious to us that the ‘only’ realistic way for a swift economic recovery is through a thorough, in-depth, rebranding scheme – starting with the redesign of the iconic US Dollar – it’s the ‘only’ pragmatic way to add some realistic stimulation into our lives!
Yes the project is hypothetical but fun nonetheless. I’m looking forward to seeing the results.
BTW, the deadline is July 4th… how patriotic.

Check out APPLY, the latest freebie from YouWorkForThem. “Apply is a free texture tool that allows you to customize any font you wish with an array of inky splatters and sprays. Copy your type layer and paste in place, then change the top layer to the Apply OpenType font to easily get the desired effect. Give this a try with any of our newest releases for some very interesting results.”
OVER THE RHINE
Dumped in the Music pile on May 24, 2009.

A friend of mine recently introduced me to this independent Ohio-based ensemble who was recently named to Paste magazine’s list of 100 Best Living Songwriters. They became an immediate fave. Their whole style has class, depth, and that sorta raw, earthie, free-spirited flavor common with most inde groups. Oh, and for those living in the Albuquerque area, they’ll be performing at Outpost Performance Space on July 25th. See you there.
MEAT CARDS!
Dumped in the Design pile on May 23, 2009.

It seemed fitting that my first post on creative dump would combine two of my favorite passions: corporate identity and food. You gotta check out Meat Cards.
Screw die-cutting. Forget about foil, popups, or UV spot lamination. THESE business cards have two ingredients: MEAT AND LASERS.
Oh, and if you’re in the Albuquerque area, be sure to stop by Jerky By Art. My wife and I rarely take a road trip without stopping in for some bags of good stuff.
