Nike: “Write The Future”

Dumped in the Ads pile on May 20, 2010.

Brilliant spot for Nike by Wieden+Kennedy, Amsterdam. Appropriately titled “Write the Future,” the ad depicts how the World Cup has the ability to either immortalize it’s players, or label them with shame, disappointment and global embarrassment. The ad is filmed by Alejandro G Inarritu, the director of the films 21 Grams and Babel.

“Does it have your name on it?” becomes “Does it have your face on it?”

Pedigree: “Catch”

This spot by TBWA Toronto captures the beauty and elegance of these pups catching a tasty treat at 1000 FPS using the Phantom camera. Stinkin’ awesome. Great emotion grabber. You’ll laugh; you’ll cry…

Justin Gallagher - Filmmaker

Dumped in the Ads and Film and People pile on February 25, 2010.

I recently came across this Shoe Biz/Asics spot by young filmmaker Justin Gallagher. I love the single-minded focus of TJ, the rider (a legit bike messenger), as he books down a quintessential San Fran street, showboating the bona fide durability of the Asics ‘66 Mexico style shoe on a fixie (of course). All sweet action. Cue the contrapuntal soundtrack by Doolan Roobenstein and you have a seriously fresh and straightforward package that delivers a noninvasive sell for the client. Heck, I even bought a pair—and fixies scare me to death.

Be sure to check other projects by Justin on his website/blog, http://gallagherfilms.blogspot.com. I also love the Adidas Celebration Commercial where Justin highlights power moves that remind me I never should have given up breakdancing (bitter sweet).

Puma: World Cup Foosball

Dumped in the Ads pile on January 19, 2010.

As a foosball lover, this one was an immediate post.

Agency, Zula Alpha Kilo, and Puma, hosted a life-size Foosball tournament to promote Italy’s World Cup Qualifier. I dig the refs handing out violations to passersby. Not sure about the life-size foosball “game” but hey, it drew the crowd.

I think it’s time for Dynamo, my foosball goalkeeper, to come out of retirement. It’s been way too long.

If the iPod was released in the ’70s:

Dumped in the Ads and Personal pile on September 18, 2009.

A little obvious, but lets just say the iPod was released in the ’70s, the new nano came out in ‘79, and Jobs was big on celebrity spokespeople. The ad might perhaps look a little something like:

nano-nano

TOYOTA: iQ FONT

Dumped in the Ads pile on July 20, 2009.

Now I’m one step closer to seeing everything.

A car generated font. Possibly the first? I just want to know if that car can handle those turns right off the assembly line. Get the font as a free download here.

THE PEN STORY

Dumped in the Ads pile on July 16, 2009.

There’s been a lot of phenomenal stop motion work done lately. This spot for the Olympus PEN is no different. 60.000 pictures taken, 9.600 prints developed and another 1.800 pictures were shot over again.

Check out the official Olympus PEN website here. You can even get the song, Down Below by Johannes Stankowski, as a free download. Enjoy.

Oh, you can also apply for a one week test drive of the PEN here. The more creative your motives, the better your chances of being chosen.
