Ommwriter
Dumped in the Resources pile on November 24, 2009.
Created by Herraiz Soto & Co., Ommwriter is Zen-like minimalist word processor that aims at making writing a pleasure once again. The goal is really to shut you out from all the chaos that takes place on you desktop and provide a way for you to escape, concentrate, and enjoy your writing task. I love the main snowscape image and ambient sound. ooommmmmmmmmmm…
The Beta is available as a free download (currently only available for Mac).

TOTAL RECALL
Dumped in the Resources pile on June 3, 2009.
I read a article in FastCompany about 3 years ago about a guy who carried around a video camera and recorded every waking moment of his day and had done so for several years. He could literally, at any time, reference exact conversations he had, places he went, things he saw, people he met—to the second. Essentially he had an external HD brain that, unlike the human brain, had precise memory recall at any moment.
We might not be at “every second of the day” yet but Evernote seems to be a step in that direction. Evernote allows you to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere.
Plus the logo is pretty clever. An elephant never forgets!
CRANKY PRESSMAN GOODIES
Dumped in the Design and Resources pile on May 29, 2009.

I received my letterpress sample pack from Cranky Pressman today. Like most designers, I’m a huge letterpress fan (though maaaaybe not as much as my wife); there’s something about the classic and pure process that ignites imagination and connects you to hundreds of years of graphic tradition. Can’t wait for the next project we take to the [letter]presses.
Studio on Fire and Porridge Papers are other great resource for letterpress.

Check out APPLY, the latest freebie from YouWorkForThem. “Apply is a free texture tool that allows you to customize any font you wish with an array of inky splatters and sprays. Copy your type layer and paste in place, then change the top layer to the Apply OpenType font to easily get the desired effect. Give this a try with any of our newest releases for some very interesting results.”
